2018 Preparatıon Of Nafıon/Mesoporous Sılıca Composıte Membranes For Hıgh Temperature H2/O2 Pem Fuel Cells

In this study, polymeric Nafion membrane and inorganic mesoporous silica was used to prepare composite membranes by using solvent-casting method for PEM fuel cells. Mesoporous silica (SCMS) was doped as 1 and 3 wt.%. Structural properties of the composite membrane were investigated by Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), water uptake and gas permeability tests with pristine Nafion membrane. Results showed that adding of 1 wt% silica SCMS into Nafion has improved the thermal stability of the structure, increased water uptake capability of membrane and decreased gas permeability of the structure.
